Sleepers

Kadarius Toney

Flashed in small glimpses last year in a putrid offense. Brian Daboll takes over which is an automatic boost compared to Jason Garrett. Also, Danny Dimes is one of the best deep ball throwers in the NFL. I bet you didn’t know that one. The only competition around him is Kenny Golladay(who is terrible) and rookie Wan'Dale Robinson. Whether Daniel Jones is an actual decent quarterback remains to be seen but the upside for this second year receiver is through the roof. He is currently WR46 and can end up much higher than that if he stays healthy.

Dameon Pierce

When taking fliers on players late into the draft, these are the prospects you want to make the throw on. Marlon Mack is an older back who hasn’t shown much since coming back from a torn achilles. Rex Burkhead isn’t bad but he is an older player that is on the back end of his career. Whats left? A rookie who has shown flashes and can handle the workload. The one thing I did like is that he can pass protect. What does that mean when it comes to fantasy? It means he is on the field. Coaches trust players who can pass protect and that leads to more opportunities. From preseason reports, it looks like he will get the chance to start. I don't expect him to be a top 12 running back to end the year but for a Zero RB strategy or just in need of some depth, he should pay off. With volume, he could end up a high RB3 or low RB2 that is currently being drafted as an RB4. Later in the draft when you are looking for a running back to throw a dart on, Pierce should be thought of.

Allen Robinson

People will be completely off of him because what he did to fantasy owners last year which is understandable. If you want to be good at fantasy football, you can’t let what happened in the past dictate what happens in the future. The offense the Rams run can support two wide receivers. We’ve seen it with guys like Brandin Cooks, Robert Woods, and recently Odell Beckham last year. Matthew Stafford will be the best quarterback Robinson has ever had by a landslide and there isn’t much competition behind him. Van Jefferson hasn’t taken the next step and behind that is guys like Tutu Atwell. Cooper Kupp will gain plenty of attention and could leave Robinson in a great spot to capitalize.

League Winners

Trey Lance

Are you serious right now? Yep.

Trey Lance is everything you want in a fantasy quarterback these days. He can extend plays with his legs and show off the deep ball which was something Jimmy G couldn’t last year. Jalen Hurts showed how much upside he had last year even with a limited arm. People are afraid to draft Trey Lance because of his lack of playing time but that isn’t a worry for me. Lance does not have to win with his arm to pay off. His rushing ability creates a high floor and the deep ball he has can unlock a massive ceiling. Dual threat quarterbacks are becoming the way to have leverage against your opponents and I am about as all in as it gets. It's not only the rushing upside for him. It's the red zone packages that could lead to rushing touchdowns like you saw with Jalen Hurts last year. He is currently going as QB13 and there is no doubt in my mind he could end up a top five quarterback with his ceiling.

A few quarterbacks that are going ahead of him currently that I would rather have Trey Lance over.

Matthew Stafford, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Dak Prescott.

If you miss out on the initial run on quarterbacks, Lance should still be sitting there and is in a great position to be a league winner for you.

Michael Pittman

Matt Ryan has supported a WR1 most of his career. Carson Wentz couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat in the middle of the ocean last year. With limited competition in the WR room and teams loading up the box for Jonathan Taylor, Pittman has a chance to deliver as a top wide receiver this year with his quarterback upgrade. Frank Reich also came out and said that he knows to win a Super Bowl, they are going to have to throw the ball. I expect the third year to be the best so far when it comes to Michael Pittman. He is currently being drafted outside the top 12 and could easily end up in that range with volume and touchdown upside.

Travis Ettiene

Another guy on your list Jameson that we haven't seen much of? Yep.

James Robinson is coming back early from an Achilles tear that happened late last season. . A perfect example is how bad Cam Akers looked coming back early last year. Outside of Robinson, rookie Snoop Conner is the only other competition. I don’t expect Robinson to come out looking hot which leaves Ettiene who could end up the bell cow. He played with Trevor Lawrence at Clemson and is also exceptional at catching the ball out of the backfield which is huge. Trevor Lawrence is the best prospect to come out of college outside of Andrew Luck and I am not going to let last year dictate how I feel about the team this season. He should be much improved and Doug Pederson will put him in a much better position than what Urban Meyer did. I am high on Ettiene and guys like him are a dime a dozen when you are looking outside of the top tier of running backs.

Courtland Sutton

The ceiling for him with Russell Wilson as his quarterback is to the moon. Not that I ever am happy about injury but Tim Patrick going down does clear the murky water when it comes to mouths to feed in Denver. Matching Courtland Sutton with one of the best deep ball throwers in Russ should lead to some cookin. He has been Wilson’s go-to in training camp and has shown glimpses of being an elite receiver in the past with quarterbacks like Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock. I am banking on Russell Wilson being the final piece to unlock Sutton’s true potential. You saw how he elevated Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf in Seattle, I expect the same to happen to Sutton here. His ADP currently is around WR21. He is sitting behind guys like DK Metcalf, Terry McLaurin, DJ Moore, and Diontae Johnson. I would rather shoot my shot with Sutton over those folks.
